We spent our last morning in Rio with our guide, Marcio, mostly walking around the "centro."
First, we went to a 16th century monastery with gilt carvings.
We also went to the modern Metropolitan Cathedral. It's very 60's modern on the outside, but the stained glass inside is beautiful.
Then we walked around some of the old part of downtown and to more churches.
There is even a Carmen Miranda Museum. Unfortunately, it wasn't open.
Below are some photos of the Escalaria Seleron. This staircase has all been tiled by one artist with tiles sent to him from around the world. They reminded us of Gaudi and the Watts Towers.

Then we went up in the hills to the Santa Teresa neighborhood.
We stopped for a snack at this bar (below).
Below is a view of the Sambadrome where they have the competitions during Carneval.
